Olympia, Washington (October 23, 2019) — Habitat for Humanity of Washington State welcomes Ryan Donohue to the newly created role of Advocacy and Policy Director. Donohue has a long track record of campaigns and elections all across the country and brings that mindset to Habitat for Humanity of Washington State’s continued efforts to make the Cost of Home something that everyone can afford.

“We are excited about the vast array of skills and experiences that Ryan brings to the table,” said Michone Preston, Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity of Washington State. “Ryan will be able to help craft our strategy around our national Cost of Home campaign and help make some headway in the housing crisis we are facing in Washington State.”

“Ryan brings a grassroots perspective to advocacy work that we are really looking forward to,” says Colleen Robinson, Habitat for Humanity of Washington State Board President and Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County. “We are looking forward to Ryan bringing a new perspective to our work in Olympia and across the state.”

Ryan Donohue has over 13 years of experience in politics and advocacy across the United States. He has worked on political campaigns such as Hillary Clinton for President and the Nevada Senate Democrats in addition to non-profits such as MoveOn and Parent Revolution.

Habitat for Humanity of Washington State is a coalition of the Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Washington. We joined Habitat organizations across the country to launch a new national advocacy campaign aimed at improving home affordability for 10 million people in the U.S. over the next five years. Cost of Home focuses on improving housing affordability across the housing continuum in four specific policy areas: increasing supply and preservation of affordable homes, equitably increasing access to credit, optimizing land use for affordable homes, and ensuring access to and development of communities of
opportunity.

Habitat for Humanity of Washington State aims to increase awareness of our housing crisis and create a platform of policy and partnership engagement to increase affordable housing solutions for all of Washington State.
